Eva! In two out fits <3

So her face up is done!!

I think it's a bit pale... eyebrows could use some work... but not too shabby for a first go, if I do say so myself!

Her first out fit is a rement set I got in Mitsuwa... it turned out to be a police woman! Too cute X3

And here's her outfit made almost entirely from socks!
lol Now why would I make an outfit entirely from socks? There's a contest on a BJD forum I post to. There are some cute prizes ♥
I hope I win ♥♥
The only parts not socks are the bows and the lace trim on the skirt.

New Head.

...so about 3 weeks ago I got seriously into ball-jointed dolls. Seeing where this is a very expensive hobby (some dolls range upwards of $1k a piece)- I decided to start small. I got a 1/6 size doll body (about the size of a Barbie) and today her head came! You can't really see it in the picture, but the eyes I ordered with it are grey with yellow-ey center.

So here she is!

Her name is going to be Eva. My project for tonight is to paint her face & give her some eye lashes X3

So excited!!

400 BABIES!!

Just kidding. There are only two.

So I'm not a crazy cat lady. Really. My aunt who gave me kittens insisted I do this. Long story long, the kittens came from her job, and she tried to give them to just about everyone there before they ended up with me. So everyone was kind of curious as to what happened to them.

...And so...a website full of pictures of my cats.

Julius & Caesar

They're very handsome. That's all I'm going to say.

So I've actually been pretty productive lately. Too bad I only have pictures of one project so far >P lol

So here it is! Christmas present for my friend Marc. It's a zombie box!! Complete with life-like gore and body parts!

I started with a papier-mache box from A.C. Moore.

Close up of my hand-print. The blood was made from acrylic paint.

The goodies inside! Hand made anatomically-correct heart & brain soap from Dug Shop on Etsy, and an I <3 zombies patch that I randomly found at a second-hand store in Brooklyn.

Fun stuff, ne?

This is the reason it's much harder to make anything of yourself working in creative arts, such as acting and singing - the government sees anyone more popular than them as a threat to their power. It is also an ingenious creation to make placebos such as computers and photocopiers look important to our way of life. Some may argue that the workplace is desigend to build character and learn about teamwork...others prefer to think of it as the perfect place to practise your aiming skills as you throw ball after ball of scrunched up paper into the bin in the corner, then make a little competition out of it with fellow colleagues.

You are here to work, not to have fun!

5.)
Consider yourself warned. It's politics and shit... I don't usually get too heated over this, but I recieved one of those mass forwarded emails that set me the fuck off. To thinks that people are just circulating this garbage that perpetuates redneck indignity and ignorance. Fuck.

Anyway, here's the original email:

This letter was sent to the Wall Street Journal on August 8, 2008 by Alisa Wilson, Ph.D. Of Beverly Hills , CA .
On July 31, 2008 the Wall Street Journal had an article titled "Where's The Outrage?"

Really. I can tell you where the outrage is. The outrage is here, in this middle-aged, well-educated, upper-middle class woman. The outrage is here, but I have no representation, no voice. The outrage is here, but no one is listening for who am I?

I am not a billionaire like George Soros that can fund an entire political movement.

I am not a celebrity like Barbra Streisand that can garner the attention of the press to promote political candidates.

I am not a film maker like Michael Moore or Al Gore that can deliver misleading movies to the public.

The outrage is here, but unlike those with money or power, I don't know how to reach those who feel similarly in order to effect change.

Why am I outraged? I am outraged that my country, the United States of America , is in a state of moral and ethical decline. There is no right or wrong anymore, just what's fair.

Is it fair that millions of Americans who overreached and borrowed more than they could afford are now being bailed out by the government and lending institutions to stave off foreclosure? Why shouldn't these people be made to pay the consequences for their poor judgment?

When my husband and I purchased our home, we were careful to purchase only what we could afford. Believe me, there are much larger, much nicer homes that I would have loved to have purchased. But, taking responsibility for my behavior and my life, I went with the house that we could afford, not the house that we could not afford. The notion of personal responsibility has all but died in our country.

I am outraged, that the country that welcomed my mother as an immigrant from Hitler's Nazi Germany and required that she and her family learn English now allows itself to be overrun with illegal immigrants and worse, caters to those illegal immigrants.

I am outraged that my hard-earned taxes help support those here illegally. That the Los Angeles Public School District is in such disarray that I felt itincumbent to send my child to private school, that every time I go to the ATM, I see "do you want to continue in English or Spanish?", that every time I call the bank, the phone company , or similar business, I hear "press 1 for English or press 2 for Spanish". WHY? This is America , our common language is English and attempts to promote a bi- or multi-lingual society are sure to fail and to marginalize those who cannot communicate in English.

I am outraged at our country's weakness in the face of new threats on American traditions from Muslims. Just this week, Tyson's Food negotiated with its union to permit Muslims to have Eid-al-Fitr as a holiday instead of Labor Day. What am I missing? Yes, there is a large Somali Muslim population working at the Tyson's plant in Tennessee . Tennessee , last I checked, is still part of the United States . If Muslims want to live and work here they should be required to live and work by our American Laws and not impose their will on our long history.

In the same week, Random House announced that they had indefinitely delayed the publication of The Jewel of Medina, by Sherry Jones, a book about the life of Mohammed's wife, Aisha due to fear of retribution and violence by Muslims. When did we become a nation ruled by fear of what other immigrant groups want? It makes me so sad to see large corporations cave rather than stand proudly on the principles that built this country.

I am outraged because appeasement has never worked as a political policy, yet appeasing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is exactly what we are trying to do. An excellent article, also published recently in the Wall Street Journal, went through over 20 years of history and why talking with Iran has been and wi ll continue to be ineffective. Yet talk, with a madman no less, we continue to do. Have we so lost our moral compass and its ability to detect evil that we will not go in and destroy Iran 's nuclear program? Would we rather wait for another Holocaust for the Jews - one which they would be unlikely to survive? When does it end?

As if the battle for good and evil isn't enough, now come the Environmentalists who are so afraid of global warming that they want to put a Bag tax on grocery bags in California; to eliminate Mylar balloons; to establish something as insidious as the recycle police in San Francisco. I do my share for the environment: I recycle, I use water wisely, I installed an energy efficient air conditioning unit.
But when and where does the lunacy stop?Ahmadinejad wants to wipe Israel off the map, the California economy is being overrun by illegal immigrants, and the United States of America no longer knows right from wrong, good from evil. So what does California do? Tax grocery bags.

So, America , although I can tell you where the outrage is, this one middle-aged, well-educated, upper middle class woman is powerless to do anything about it. I don't even feel like my vote counts because I am so outnumbered by those who disagree with me.

Alisa Wilson, Ph.D.
Beverly Hills , California

...My Response...
Lis, the woman who wrote this letter of outrage is pretty misinformed, or has twisted things into a very close-minded perception of the truth.

People didn't fuck up the lending institutions, they did it to themselves. They knowingly gave loans to people who had no way of paying them back, just to take their interest money on huge loan, and show a boom in profits. It's not the people with the mortgages getting a bail out here, it the institutions. The bail it out protecting CEO's multi-million dollar salaries and pensions. Personal responsibility may be failing, but it's also on the heads of those CEO's that instated predatory lending policies (just haw many pre-approved credit offers do you get in any given week?), letting their greed for a fat check over rule concern for the well being of their company and clients.

I have friends who are illegal immigrants, and have been trying to become citizens for nearly 20 years. My stepmother (from Korea) had to go through a painstaking ordeal that took more than 5 years and $1000's, even though she was married to my dad, who was born an American Citizen. The entire process and system is so ridiculously fucked up, even people who want to become legal can't... and so she blames the immigrants? What ever happened to "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"? The same country that opened it's doors to your parents and grandparents should now shut them, because the people coming in need education and healthcare?

And really, who cares if we have more than one language commonly spoken? In European countries, most people speak 2-3 languages or more. Do we really have a problem with becoming more literate and learning the language of a country we share a border with? Maybe if more people learned 2nd or 3rd languages, Americans as whole would gain some perspective on the world outside of their borders, and change the perception of Americans as fat, lazy, uneducated, and greedy for oil, money, and power.

And excuse me, but plastic bags are choking and killing our ecosystems. More than 6 billion are thrown away every year. Where do they go? Into our water and wildlife, where they not only kill plants and animals, but also degrade into particulates that contribute to diseases like cancer, obesity, heart disease and diabetes. We should really not do anything about this, because she's worried about illegal immigrants? Our out of control consumerism is forcing us to use our resources faster than we can even deal with the waste products it produces. We're poisoning our living space with garbage and chemicals.

Is this what you want to kids to live with? To drink? To eat in the vegetables and meat you buy, imported from 3rd world countries? What happened to the accountability she was just saying was missing?

And don't even get me started on Muslims. We've worked ourselves into such as frenzy with the misconception that all Muslims are radical fundamentalist terrorists (check out Toby Keith's song on putting boots up "towelheads" asses for example) that there is an honest threat of violence against anyone who even resembles a Muslim. In fact, militant Muslims are in extreme minority even in the Middle East, let alone America. If Random House wants to protect their author by not releasing a book until some of the racial tension has eased, that's fine by me. Maybe if we practiced a little bit of the sensitivity to other cultures that she looks down on so snidely, we wouldn't even be at war. Our troops could be home with their families, instead of locked in a war of attrition, and we wouldn't be sending around mass emails to pray for their safety and remember the dead.

Well-educated to me means more than a PhD. This woman has given no thought to anything other than her personal outrage, made no attempt to understand anything outside of her very small sphere of existence.

Sorry to rant myself, my policy is usually not to give shit, but I get so sick of hearing this kind of stuff. It perpetuates hate, fear, and an extremely easy to manipulate mob mentality.

Lookit all this stuff I made last night...

...ok, that's kind of a fib. These are from the last 3-4 months, but I've been too lazy to post this stuff as I finish it, lol.

>.>
<.<
Anyway!

This lil guy is from The Cute Book by Aranzi Aronzo. My brother gave me this book for Christmas, so I made him this lil' lizard/dino guy as a thanks <3

The squirrel here is also from The Cute Book, the iPod cozy my own design. The lil punk rock squirrel went to my friend Lisa for Valentine's Day, and the iPod cozy to my etsy.
Both are made of felt- I love the leopard print stuff.

These are iPod cozies I made for me and my roommate. They're completely silly fandom for the movie Dragon Tiger Gate. We're ridiculous for Donnie Yen <3 <3 <3
Made from felt, hand embroidered and appliqued.

So my boyfriend was completely awesome this year, and for Christmas he got me a serger <3 Here's a picture of it in the middle of the mess I made making things:

As a thank you, the first project I made on it were these bags, to hold his miscellaneous guitar and whatever cables.
Made from repurposed (hideous) pillowcases =)

This is my first ever attempt at quilting! Lesson learned- quilting is tedious... I spent a full day cutting and sewing to end up with a 16" square of fabric that I could then use to make something, lol. I think it paid off though ;)
Also made from repurposed linens- a yellow pillowcase, blue bed sheet, and remnant discount fabric.

These are coasters I made to send to a friend in Japan. I'm working on a batch now to sell.
Hand quilted, all bits and pieces from my stash =P

If you're interested, I have an Etsy Shop where I put up anything I don't give as gifts <3

Thank you for looking! Comments & constructive crits are welcome <3

X-Posted to my personal journal.

I learned 2 life lessons today!

1. Do not stay up till 5 a.m. to finish a video game quest when you have work in the morning.
You will not wake up.
Instead, you'll open your alarm/cell phone, so the alarm won't go off any more, then stash it under a lump of pillows and blanket just to be extra sure it won't wake you when your co-workers call to make sure you're not really dead.

2. If you value your epidermis, DO NOT WAX AFTER SHOWERING.
It may seem like a good idea at the time. IT IS NOT.
Your legs will look like you just spent an extended stay in the burn ward.

That's all for today.

Finished!

So I finished sewing my most challenging project yet- a fully lined, mid-thigh length black velvet jacket.

XD XD XD

I'm so proud of myself. Not even for how it turned out- 'cause there are some things I definitely do different if it didn't mean re-doing everything... I'm happy just cause I finished it!! It took probably about 2 weeks worth or work, spread out over about a year, lol. Poor Daniel- it's for him, and he waited very patiently for it.

My begrudging model.

Cuff Detail

Ooo silky lining!

Haha I'm at work now, and it's getting busy, so I should probably stop slacking, lol. >.>

To discontinue my other journal and just post here. It's rare enough that I actually find the time to write in one of them, let alone 2.

so there X3

In other news- I'm now a mac user.

24" iMac. At it's temporary home at the Pena's. Teh Awesome. It is a little uncomfortable working on a coffee table, but I'll survive.

Still learning how to use it. And CS3. I might need a chair for that though. I have a hard time learning while sitting on the ground. >.>

I drew this to use in a t-shirt design. I plan on adding feathers and roses and maybe paint splatters (if I'm feeling crazy) for the finished design, but it came out decent enough to post all on it's lonesome.

Finally finished this picture!! It's only one, so no cut. So there >P

This has been driving me crazy for about a year and a quarter now. I drew the sketch May 2005! Then I spent the better part of a year on the line work. I'd work on it when I had nothing else to do. Work on something else for a while. Come back. See how much what I had done before sucked and rework it. Work on something else, come back, etc.

Until April 2006. When I finally had nothing left to do on the lines. o.0 So I decided to color it and give a print of it to Les for her b-day, since the two featured are characters from her story.

B-day = May. Completion = August.

>.>

Ok, so since this account is pretty much collcting dust, I decided to use it to post pictures - mostly photos I've taken or stuff that I drew. Ya, know- like art stuff. This way, I'll keep it all in one place n.~

Ok so this first batch are of the flowers in my yard, taken early May. Enjoy!

Yay!! Special bonus! Here's that I altered with PS. It reminds me of this toy I had when I was little- it was like a black feltboard and you got all these lil colored squares to put on it and make mosaics.

Ok, that's it for today.
